It’s that time of the season where I do a bit of introspection, think back to the fun (and not so fun) times of the year and thank people. Sure using one’s blog to say thank you does reek of ego, but hey, isn’t that why most of us got into blogging anyway?
Well this being the fourth anniversary of this post, please indulge me. Besides, consistently writing about HR, HR related issues, unpaid internships, conferences, and the general bad behavior of peeps in the working world gets boring.
So to hell with it, in no particular order here’s my list:
John Jorgensen & Benjamin McCall: Thank you for the random phone calls. Most of them came at a time when I really needed one and they helped keep my head in check.
Jason Lauristen: Thanks for the conversations in New York and Orlando. It was great to have a few minutes where we could just shoot the breeze and chat about our various levels of crazy.
Joe Gerstandt: Thank you for the brief bits of time we had to chat as well. Your honesty and authenticity are unmatched and you’ve set the bar really high.
Andres Lopez & Christine McQuillan: New York was a huge success because of your friendship, kindness, and generosity. Thank you very, very much.
Steve Boese & Lance Huan: I know you both love to hate on the Heat, I get it. But the brief time we did spend at SRS and dinner at the Tide House was great. Y’all are awesome.
Matthew Stollak: Matt, you’re one of the good guys and I’m lucky to have a chance to interact with you. Sleep now, trust me, because you’ll be missing it soon enough.
Teresa Morris: Thank you for understanding that I had to leave the city and we couldn’t get together. Unfortunately, some things spun out of my control that required me to be back in Miami. It sucked. Hard. You’re another individual that I’m absolutely lucky to have met and wish you nothing but the best next year.
Charlie Judy: Dude. Thank you for taking the call and trying to marshal resources to help. When the call comes in for me to do my Don a service from your consiglerie, it’s done. No questions asked.
Lizzie Smithson: I know I said “Don’t get married” but I say that to everyone. I wish you nothing but the absolute best; you’re one of the good ones.
Jason Martinez: I love the fact that I can call you randomly, ask some pretty inappropriate questions and you don’t a) judge me or b) openly mock me. On a serious note, your posts make me laugh and smile and when we do get to chat, I appreciate it.
Lalli Reese: OK, we seem to have some of the same quirks, types of friends, and attitude. If you lived in Miami, we’d be breaking bending the law and laughing at the haters real time. Getting a chance to meet you this year was awesome and I’m looking forward to the next time we get to hang.
Daniel Crosby: I keep trying Don Carlos. Someday soon we’ll get you to the gentle waters of Biscayne Bay. Until then, play some Pitbull, drink a diet coke con limon, and know that I’m a huge fan & supporter. Cheers brother!
William Tincup: We didn’t get to do much this year, but I’m always learning by quietly watching. Thanks for keeping me in mind on some stuff.
Steve Browne: Thank You. Like Charlie, if the day comes for me to do a service, it’s done.
Lars Schmidt: We may not root for the same college football teams, but you’re an amazing individual. Humbled, honored, and proud to have met. Thanks for keeping it real.
Dwane Lay: Coño brother, trying to teach you gutter Spanish via Facebook is always fun. You’re a good man, Mr. Lay.
Sarah White: Mea cupla, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I will never live it down and am still bothered that we couldn’t get together when you were here. Thank you for including me this year.
Paul Smith: You always make me smile. Thank you for being a good soul and setting an amazing example. I cherish our relationship.
Jenny DeVaughn: If there’s anyone that I’d want to be stuck in a Mustang, playing old school Miami booty bass in California or crashing some pretentious restaurant in the lower east side of Manhattan, it’s you. Thanks for the great time & the laughs.
Jen McClure: You are one of my favorite people on the planet and while we didn’t get too much time this year, I really appreciated the brief moments we did have.
Laurie: There is a whole lot that I would say that would probably come out weird and awkward so I’ll just say it simply, Thank you for everything. It’s not lost on me, and I truly appreciate it : )
Kris Dunn: Next time we go where nobody speaks any English… that will be the true Miami experience, or a Heat game, your choice. Thank you brother.
There are way too many people who make me laugh, shake my head, and think. I’m incredibly thankful for having a chance to see, hear, and learn from all of you. Thank you for reading, and my best to all of you.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks brother! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
OMG you are so sweet. I really appreciate it, John. You’re a doll. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family.
Thank you for once again including me in a list with some fantastic folks!
BTW, someone who counts so many cool people as friends must be pretty cool himself. 🙂 It’s my pleasure to know you!
