Post HRevolution… A Challenge!

by John on May 10, 2010

I was lucky enough to spend some time in Chicago this weekend attending the HRevolution conference. This was my second go-around with the conference, having attended the inaugural conference in Louisville, KY last year. It was great to see old friends, meet new friends in an awesome environment and a great city. I actually enjoyed the weather and wasn’t too bummed that I couldn’t smoke a cigar.

I was thinking how I could write a witty post about famous French Impressionist painters and HRevolution, but instead I want to issue a challenge.

My challenge to ALL the attendees of HRevolution is to publicly share (via any social platform of their choosing) examples of their “Echo-Chamber” busting at the 30, 60, and 90 day mark. (June 7th, July 7th and August 6th).

I don’t’ think that it will be too difficult; in fact; we’ve already been challenged to act on our learning’s post conference. Lance and Laurie did an excellent job of inspiring us to “Bust yo’self out of the echo chamber” and I believe that a good majority of the participants will do so. I also believe that when we get scared, we’re going to remember Jason’s Advice and find a way to “fail spectacularly”.

History is replete with revolutionaries, some more successful than others. The Roman poet Seneca said it best “Fate leads those who are willing, the rest it drags!”

June 7th is only 30 days away.

John, good post. Hopefully, I will be able to accept your challenge and use what I learned this weekend.

See you down the road.

Nice topic…not sure what I will accomplish since I will be out of the country for two weeks, but I will try.

Picture of donuts. 4-x-nom.

Great to see you, and your wife. I enjoy your contribution to the discussion and the community.

Yeah man, set the measurable goals! Talk to you on June 7th (or before).
Cheers,
FZ

Great challenge! Now you’ll have to remind us… 🙂

Jay Goldman May 10, 2010 at 11:11 pm

Can I echo what Ben said and still be part of the echo chamber busting? Great challenge!

Would be awesome for the #hrevolution crew to send out a reminder to everyone who participated on June 1st, July 1st, and August 1st. I’ll even propose a hashtag:

#hrechobust

Let’s do it!

I am IN! I love a good challenge and I’ll even go so far as to build it into my goals at work. It’s on. Thanks for the great idea. Now, help hold us accountable with reminders.

So fun to see you, this weekend. Doesn’t happen enough. Sigh!

I’m alarming my calendar. Silos be damned!

I started to bust out yesterday – had an super chat with my CEO about some of the HRevolution convos/sessions. But she’s awesome, so that was a piece of cake; or a piece of donut.

So great to see you!

@John: Great to meet this weekend too. Hope you enjoyed the Perdomo

@akaBruno: The Dean of Awesome grants you a dispensation

@Frank: We will absolutely talk & I think this will be cool

@Ben: I’m game. The reminder will be easy, I want to hear all the great stories.

@Jay: Your enthusiasm is infectious. I like the twitter hash tag too. I think the planning team may want to rest a bit, this is something that the participants should champion. And we’ll do a great job!

@Trish: Will do!

@Laurie: I feel the same way. You’re good people and I’m inspired by your awesomeness. Thank You for all that you do.

@Lyn: Love it! Damn the Silos!

@Robin: Same here. And I can’t thank you enough for the cheese curd. The happy memories came flooding back with the first bite. You and your daughter are Awesome.

I love this challenge John! Maybe we can call it “The Biggest Gainer” and assign “pounds of progress”. However, that might go counter to the healthcare discussion and that frickin’ awesome looking plate of donuts on the upper right. Great seeing you sir and I wish we had more time to catch up.

So very well done. A test may be – if you are still in your comfort zone, you may still be in your echo chamber! Stretch a little bit.

It was good to see you again!

Cheers,
Lois
